Abusive managers at Guyanese hospital to be investigated

An investigation has been launched into allegations of mistreatment of junior staff by managers at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in Guyana.

The investigation comes after staff members took to social media to share allegations of abuse that was carried out by senior nursing personnel.

In a statement, the hospital’s board and administration said: “The GPHC has established mechanisms accessible to all staff for making complaints, conducting investigations and providing appropriate redress.”

 “The general public is hereby assured that the allegations are being investigated and the appropriate action(s) will be taken in a timely manner.”

The GPHC added that it “condemns all forms of misconduct and misuse of authority, and the Corporation remains committed to maintaining a healthy and productive work environment for all staff.”
