Accused of Theft, man blames drugs

A homeless man begged the court to assist him with a nagging drug problem after appearing on a theft charge this week.

Ronald Dacosta Deane, 52, of no fixed address admitted stealing five bags of bottles from a woman's property on April 4.

Deane climbed into the yard of Katrina Collymore's house and stole the bottles. The court heard that the house is owned by Collymore but is vacant.

The 52-year-old man blamed his drug problem for his actions and asked Magistrate Douglas Frederick to help him fight the bad habit.

The magistrate remanded Deane until May 9. On his return to the District 'A' Magistrates' court, he will receive further instructions on the possibility of drug rehabilitation.
