Agrofest 2017 highlighting 'agriculture 50 years and beyond'

The Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) is rearing and ready to go again with its Annual Agriculture Exhibition - Agrofest.

The BAS says they are already starting to feel a great deal of excitement for next year’s show which promises to be as exciting and interesting as previous shows.

James Paul CEO of The BAS says the activities associated with the events are made possible through the Ministry of Agriculture continued support and Pinnacle Feeds the main sponsor.

He says the BAS wants to utilise and leverage the partnerships that they have developed over the years as a means of furthering the objectives to develop the sector.

Agrofest growth over the years, according to Mr Paul, has made it challenging to come up with themes. He however notes that on this occasion, the theme reflects the fact that the sector has contributed to the country’s growth over the past 50 years and a reminder to Barbadians that the sector has in no small measure contributed to who we are as a nation.

The theme for Agrofest 2016 is: “Agriculture 50 Years and Beyond” which he says reflects the fact that “we have always been around and will continue to be around.”
