The Barbados Senior Women’s Football Team, created history when they played the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The Barbados Senior Women’s Football Team created history this weekend, at the Barbados Football Association (BFA) Wildey Astroturf.
The 'Bajan Belles' registered their largest win in international football with an emphatic and commanding 10-0 score line against the Turks and Caicos Islands.
As the Belles prepare for the Windward Islands Women’s Football Tournament scheduled for later this year in St Lucia, they showed class and superiority over their lesser opponents, who struggled with the heat and athleticism of the host.
National U17 midfielder Marissa King, sent an early message to the guest when she made the score 1-0 in the 3rd minute.
Trinidad & Tobago based professional, Shonna Evelyn doubled the score in the 12th minute. Further goals from Shaunte Padmore (25th), Felicia Jarvis (29th) and captain Gabriella Lopez (43rd), gave Barbados a comfortable 5-0 lead into the break.
Barbados continued immediately where they left off from the first; Rianna Cyrus converted goal number six in the 48th minute.
Substitute Tianna Bynoe added to the score line in the 69th minute, before Cyrus added her second in the 76th minute and Shanice Stevenson registered a brace in the 80th and 83rd minutes to complete the goal-feast.
The two nations will lock horns again today at the BFA Astroturf at 4 p.m.
