Barbados gets big shout out during Labour Day Parade in New York

Barbados got a major big up during the Labour Day celebrations in New York.
The Barbados flag was on display during today’s Labour Day celebrations in New York.
Major Bill de Blasio took the flag with him as he paraded, while revellers made their way down the street.
His wife, writer Chirlane McCray is of Barbadian descent. According to a News Americas Now report, McCray traces her Bajan roots as far back to her maternal great-grandmother, Louisa Parris, and still has relatives on the island.
The event which celebrates Caribbean culture was marred when two persons were shot dead early Monday morning, during the Labour Day J'ouvert. This is despite heightened security measures by police.
