Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley is among regional leaders who have pledged to assist Trinidad and Tobago after flooding devastated some parts of that nation.

Trinidadian Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley,  said Miss Mottley; Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness; Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit; Prime Minister of Grenada, Dr Keith Mitchell and the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, have all reached out to him and offered support.

He added that the regional leaders expressed their concern for the people of the twin island republic, grappling with the effects of the floods due to this unusually protracted period of inclement weather, and have all indicated that they are on standby to assist in the event that requests for assistance are forthcoming.

According to Dr Rowley the country is coping for the moment through government agency responses and private outpourings from persons across the nation.
