BDFSP showing early dominance in Premier League

The Barbados Defense Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) registered their second consecutive win Saturday night at the Empire Sports Club grounds, as the Barbados Football Association (BFA) Premier League continued with a Zone Two doubleheader.

In the opening encounter Mark’s Auto Spares Porey Spring gave up a lead for the second time this season and was made to settle for a 1-1 draw with Crane & Equipment Ellerton FC.

Jomo Harewood netted his first goal of the season in the 21st minute but five minutes later Zinho Harris equalized for his new club.

In the feature match of the evening, the BDFSP continued their recent rivalry with Rendezvous FC.

After a narrow opening win versus Ellerton FC, the BDFSP were eager to showcase their quality in an effort to earn victory number two of the season.

The soldiers marched to a quick 2-0 lead, courtesy of goals from national midfielders Omani Leacock (10th) and Raheim Sargeant (16th).

Rendezvous captain Romel Bynoe gave his team a glimmer of hope in the 49th minute but any chance of a comeback was dismissed in the 60th minute when Shaquille Boyce placed his penalty kick effort beyond goalkeeper Romaine Primus.
