BDFSP takes Zone 2 lead
The Barbados Defense Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) assumed top position in Zone 2 of the Barbados Football Association (BFA) Premier League.
The 2015 champions fought valiantly to hold on to a 1-0 victory over Crane & Equipment Ellerton last night at the Empire Sports Club grounds.
In a game which saw few opportunities created as indecision and poor technique saw a number of breakdowns in the final third, BDFSP just needed that extra bit of quality and luck, to get over the hurdle.
Omani Leacock was a constant menace for the Ellerton defence with his change of pace and trickery but his shooting was well off target in most cases.
On the other hand, Ellerton’s go-to man and captain Shakille Belle was hindered by the size of the Empire ground, as there was little room for him to display his trademark acceleration runs and he often had to battle between BDFSP centre backs Ranaldo Bailey and Shane Codrington.
When a draw seem an imminent and fair result for both teams, Rashad Jules made the difference in the 88th minute.
National midfielder Raheim Sargeant was offered some room on the right flank and his pinpoint pass found an unmarked Jules to slot beyond goalkeeper Kerry Holder from close range.
