BHTA to discuss prospects for national growth

When the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association’s First Quarterly General Meeting comes off on Wednesday, March 2, the topic of discussion will be Barbados’ Growth over the next 50 years.

This will be done by way of a panel discussion on the topic ‘Barbados at 50 and Moving Onward – How Can We Grow for the next 50?’ during the meeting, which comes off in the Needham’s Ballroom, Hilton Barbados Resort at 8 a.m. and is sponsored in part by A&B Music Supplies.

The panelist of industry experts include BHTA Chairman, Sunil Chatrani, Owner and CEO of Sun Group and former President of the BHTA; Bernard Weatherhead; Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. CEO, William Griffith; Intimate Hotels of Barbados Chairman, Kashka Haynes and Department of Management Studies, UWI Lecturer in Tourism & Programme Coordinator, M.Sc. Tourism Programmes, Sherma Roberts, PhD.

Moderator for the discussion, Sue Springer, CEO of the Association, who will also deliver the Administrative Report, explained that each panelist will make a ten-minute presentation on the topic after which the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions, make comments and discuss.

“We at the Association believe that it is only fitting as Barbados celebrates its 50th anniversary of independence that we take a meaningful look at where we are after 50 years, where we are going and how we can get there. We expect this meeting to be extremely interesting and informative as our members will have an open forum to share their thoughts and ideas on this topic,” Springer said.

The meeting is opened to the members of the public. For further information or reservations, please contact the BHTA no later than Friday, February 26.
