BL&P gives Welfare department 'light bulb of hope' with donation
The Barbados Light and Power Company (BL&P) continues to show their support to the Barbadian community with another donation to the Welfare Department.
The utility company contributed 200 food vouchers along with food hampers for three specific families who were not named. These hampers were distributed today, August 7, 2020 at the Welfare Department Corporate Office.
Manager of Customer Care at the Barbados Light and Power (BL&P), Rodney Dottin, spoke on behalf of the company during this morning’s proceedings. He said he was pleased to be donating once again to the Welfare Department with something more “tangible” than the previous donation. Earlier this year in April, the BL&P also donated $10,000 to the Welfare Department.
He stated while Barbadians are seeing some normalcy once again with the “lifting of the COVID-19 measures” and persons are returning to work, there are still some families who are experiencing economic challenges during this period.
“We hope that this will again help you as you reach out to our Barbadian families. As always, we appreciate working with partners and today, we have formed yet another partnership”.
Senior Welfare Officer, Sharon-Rose Gittens, thanked BL&P stating they have given the Welfare Department “a lightbulb of hope” especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and the hurricane season.
She revealed that due to what is happening around the world, there are now more families, especially fathers who are seeking their help for their children.
