One customer of the Barbados Light and Power Company Limited is smiling a little brighter.

Magreta Jordan-Watson, celebrated Christmas in a big way and she is now looking forward to even better things this year, as Managing Director Roger Blackman and Director Customer Solutions Kim Griffith-Tang How, recently presented Jordan-Watson, with a $25,000 voucher for an energy efficiency home upgrade.

This after she emerged as the winner from a competition that was launched at BMEX in June 2017 and continued through to November 2017. As the Company embarked on its mission to educate customers and the general public about its 100 / 100 vision by 2045, persons had the opportunity to enter the Home of the Future Competition after each engagement. Light and Power’s 100 / 100 vision is an aspirational goal of 100% transition to renewable energy (RE) over the next 25 to 30 years along with 100% electrification of the country, initially focusing on the transportation and tourism sectors.

Jordan-Watson who visited the booth at BMEX remembers going to the trade show on the insistence of her daughter Akilah and, after almost bypassing Light and Power’s Home of the Future her daughter said ‘let’s go in’. According to her:

"This is a tangible blessing from God for 2017 especially since the year was challenging. I was delighted when Mrs. Griffith-Tang How contacted me because an energy-efficient dishwasher for my kitchen has been an agenda item for a while."

Over the next few months, she will work with the Company’s Customer Solutions team on selecting the upgrades that may best suit her lifestyle.

Roger Blackman noted that ‘Magreta now has the opportunity to make her home one for the future and to consider energy efficient items and electricity management solutions. She has a range of options now available to her. This energy-efficient home upgrade voucher will give her the opportunity to choose from photovoltaic panels, a Powerwall, EE appliances, LED lighting and more.’
