BMEX 2018 to be 'Bajan Fuh Real'
'Bajan Fuh Real' is the theme for this year’s Barbados Manufactures’ Association Exhibition (BMEX), which kicks off this Friday at The Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
The theme according to President of the Barbados Manufacturers’ Association (BMA), Robert Noel, is simple, authentic and relatable.
He said 'Bajan Fuh Real' reflect on all of the qualities which are positive and which truly make us Barbadian; qualities such as pride and industry, resilience, hard work as well as creativity.
"These are qualities which placed us among the leading developing countries in the world, which helped us to transform from an island focused solely on the export of sugar as a major means of income, to becoming a tower of strength and a shining example for other Caribbean countries to follow 50 years after our Independence.”
The event runs from this Friday, May 18th to Monday, May 21st and will feature live demos, workshops, fashion shows and other new elements. As usual, children will be catered for on Day one of the exhibition.
For the first time, the association is partnering with the talent search company ‘Start de Bacchanal’. The company will be hosting a talent search event to provide upcoming entertainers with an outlet to showcase their talent which ordinarily they will not an avenue to do.
And the TVET’s World Skills Barbados Competition will be featured at BMEX for the second time, highlighting the positive work done by young people.
