BREAKING NEWS: Fire at rum maker in St. Lucy

Thirty-five fire officers including the Chief Fire Officer and the Deputy Chief Fire Officer are on the scene of a fire in St. Lucy currently.

The blaze is at Mount Gay Rum Distillery, St. Lucy.

Barbados Fire Service received the call at 2:18 pm today, Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

Along with the 35 personnel, there are five trucks dispatched from Arch Hall Fire Station and the Bridgetown Fire Station. Included in the response are two water tenders.

The rum still at the St Lucy-based Mount Gay Distilleries was recently recommissioned at the 315-year-old rum maker. French cognac maker, Rémy Cointreau, owns Mount Gay Distilleries.
