Business as usual in Barbados; no national shutdown with TS Warning
Government has once again taken the decision to carry on with business as usual in Barbados although the country is under a Tropical Storm Warning and now a Flood Warning.
Many persons are up in arms over this seemingly new mode of operation by the current administration. They are expressing their anger and angst on social media.
After 11:00 p.m last night, Thursday, September 27, the Minister of Home Affairs and Acting Attorney General Edmund Hinkson finally issued an update to close schools after initially indicating that the call would be made at 6:00 am today. However as it relates to a national shutdown he stressed such a move is a costly endeavor. He said that one day of closure equates to approximately $3Million in losses.
Notice that there will be no national shutdown down again today despite flooding across the island, came moments ago, Friday, September 28.
