Created : 13 January 2019
The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) has issued a statement explaining what caused an unpleasant smell at and in the areas surrounding the Bridgetown Sewage Treatment Plant yesterday.
It said that the BWA experienced a glitch with one of the blowers at the Bridgetown Sewage Treatment Plant yesterday evening - Saturday, January 12th, 2019 - which resulted in some malodours being experienced in the immediate vicinity of the Plant.
The Authority added that they have made some adjustments to the operations at the Plant and this has worked to reduce the odours and get the situation under control.
It was also noted in the press statement that the Authority will continue to monitor the situation while it works towards getting another blower operational within the next forty-eight hours.
