Canadian woman charged for $80,000 in marijuana

Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and charged 39-year-old Canadian visitor, Paula Michelle Small, with a number of drug-related offences.

According to police, Small arrived in Barbados by air from Toronto, Canada on Wednesday. Having cleared Immigration, a subsequent search by Customs officers revealed 23 transparent vacuum-sealed packages all containing cannabis, concealed in a false bottom within her suitcases.

The police were informed and Smith was arrested and charged for possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of cannabis.

The weight of the drugs found was 20.2lbs with an estimated street value of BBD$80,000.
