UPDATE: Child struck in Sturges, motorcyclist struck on Highway

A child was struck by a car in Sturges, Saint Thomas this morning.

A child is awaiting an ambulance in Sturges, Saint Thomas, after being struck by a car. 

Her injuries are not believed to be serious at this time.

A motorcyclist and a motor van were involved in an accident on the ABC Highway this morning, going towards Hothersal Turning, St Michael or the Everton Weekes Roundabout.

Police said that the motorcyclist lost control and collided with a palm tree after being clipped by the van. 

The extent of his injuries are not known at this time, but motorists should exercise caution when driving in that area as traffic has therefore been reduced to one lane.

This has emergency services have been kept busy today, as a number of accidents were reported across the island, including one which led to a mass casualty in Black Rock, St Michael.

UPDATE [10:27 am]: Police have provided an update on these accidents.

Police are conducting investigations into an accident with injuries which occurred sometime around 8:00 am, on Monday the 20th of March 2017, along Welchman Hall Main Road St. Thomas, involving a motor car and a pedestrian.

The motor car was being driven by Mario Murry 28 years of Eden Lodge St. Michael, whilst the pedestrian was Glendene Grace 13 years of Bryan Road, Welchman Hall St. Thomas.  

The pedestrian complained of pain to her left shoulder, head, left side, and left ankle and was transported to the QEH by ambulance for medical attention.

Police are also conducting investigations into an accident with injuries which occurred sometime around 7:55 am, on Monday the 21st of March 2017, along the Barrow Section of the ABC Highway, between the Everton Weekes and Clyde Walcott roundabouts, involving a motor car and a motorcycle.

The motor car was being driven by Kenneth Campbell 54 years of Crystal Heights St.James, and the motorcycle was being ridden by Akil Prescod 31 years of Jackson, St. Michael.

Prescod received injuries to his left foot and was transported to the QEH by ambulance for medical attention.
