UPDATE: Christ Church man shot by police has died

Police have confirmed that Dwayne Omar Ward alias 'Lil Yosh', has succumbed to the gunshot injuries he received as a result of a confrontation with law enforcement officers on Tuesday. 

Ward was listed as being in critical condition and passed away about 7:50 this morning at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Police are investigating a shooting incident which occurred about 11:30 am on Tuesday at Maxwell Plains, Christ Church.  

The shooting has left 32-year-old Dwayne Omar Ward, alias 'Lil Yosh' of Dayrells Hill, Christ Church, nursing a gunshot wound and is currently listed in critical condition at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).  

Police were carrying out investigations into a report in the area this afternoon and upon approaching a resident to make an enquiry, they heard a number of loud explosions. 

The gunshots reportedly came from a group of persons who were liming in the area, forcing the police officers to take cover near another residence.  As they returned to the roadway, they were confronted by a car speeding towards them where the driver pulled the car in their direction. The Police officers then fired shots at the vehicle to protect themselves.  

The vehicle struck a parked truck and came to a sudden halt. Police discovered Ward was injured and immediately summoned the ambulance. He was transported to the Q.E.H by ambulance under police escort. 
Police investigations are continuing.
