Christ Church man shot; police appeal for information

A 47-year-old Christ Church man had a close brush with one or more gunmen last night near his home.

Chesterfield Yearwood had to be transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment after being shot in his right elbow and left hip.

Police say he had been sitting on a bench in a track not far from his home at 2nd Avenue Vauxhall with some men when they saw a group of individuals walking down the track, towards an unoccupied house near where they were.

According to reports, the men approached the victim and a scuffle ensued during which two loud explosions were heard.

Lawmen have asked anyone with any information that could assist their investigations to contact the Oistins Police Station, the Police Emergency number, Crime Stoppers, any police station or via the Royal Barbados Police Force page on Facebook.

They say all information recieved will be kept in the strictest confidence.
