COVID-19: CARICOM national residing in B'dos tests positive, no travel

After four days of no positive results, Barbados has recorded its 83rd confirmed case of COVID-19.

She is a 72-year-old CARICOM national, resident in Barbados, who has no recent travel history.

Contact tracers are on the job and investigations into the source of infection are ongoing.

The 72-year-old woman was the only new positive case among 89 tests conducted yesterday (May 7) by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The number of active cases locally now moves to 23. They are all in isolation. No one was discharged from isolation today, so the number of recovered persons remains at 53.

There have been seven COVID-related deaths.

So far, 2,788 tests have been completed by the public health laboratory.
