Crane, Truck go up in flames at Kooyman construction site

Fire officers and water tender from Barbados Fire Service headquarters in Bridgetown responded to a fire at the Kooyman construction site along Kendal Hill around midday.
The time of call according the Fire Service was at 12:05 pm. One water tender with three fire officers under the command of Leading Fire Officer 104 Wilkie responded and extinguished the blaze.
In a press statement released on behalf of Kooyman, it was stated that at 11.45 am today, Tuesday, July 2, 2019, a truck and crane sub-contracted by Moorjani Construction Ltd caught fire at the construction site of the planned Kooyman Megastore site, Kendall Hill, Christ Church.
David Collins, Construction Manager with Moorjani Construction Ltd explained the Barbados Fire Department brought the blaze under control.
There were no injuries, however, both the truck and crane were destroyed.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
