Cuba records COVID-19 cases, three Italians
Cuba has joined the list of countries in the region to report positive coronavirus cases.
The three cases are imported, Italians who were visiting the country.
Cuba’s Ministry of Public Health said on March 10, four tourists from the Italian region of Lombardy with respiratory symptoms were identified staying in a hostel in the city of Trinidad, Sancti Spiritus province.
They had arrived at the airport International Jose Marti in Havana in recent days.
The four were immediately admitted to the Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute.
Cuban officials say yesterday, March 11, 2020, the IPK National Reference Laboratory reported that three of the four tourists who were isolated tested positive for the new SARS CoV-2 coronavirus.
The evolution of the three confirmed patients is said to be favourable and none to date have been life-threatening.
