Vice President Michael Ashwin Adhin, said the infected person travelled from the Netherlands last week.
During an address to the National Assembly, he announced that the country’s borders and airports will be closed to all traffic at midnight on Friday.
Meanwhile Prime Minister of Curacao Eugene Rhuggenaath announced plans to cancel all flights to and from the Netherlands after Curacao recorded its first case of the virus earlier today.
The Prime Minister said this shutdown is necessary to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
According to a travel advisory issued by the office of the US Consulate General in Curacao, individuals who have visited Hong Kong, Macau, China, Singapore, Iran, South Korea and Italy within the last 14 days, aren't allowed to board flights destined for Curacao.
Passengers and crew who have travelled to other areas with sustained transmission of COVID-19 will be evaluated and screened.
All flights from Europe have been banned until further notice.
