Derelict house fire turns out to be a rubbish fire

Fire officers quickly responded to an emergency call about a fire in Parish Land, Christ Church, but it turned out not to be what they expected initially.

The call was received by the Barbados Fire Service just after midnight at 12:17 am this morning, Tuesday, December 17, 2019.

Two appliances were dispatched - one from Worthing and one from Bridgetown. However when it was discovered that the rubbish fire was near the derelict house but the home had not caught on fire, the response was downgraded.

Three fire officers under the command of Leading Fire Officer Haynes from Worthing responded to the rubbish fire and extinguished it.

So far for the month of December, the Barbados Fire Service has only responded to one structural fire and it was a laundry fire earlier this month.
