Digicel throwing its support behind BIM
Telecommunications company lines up with the 50th anniversary.
As part of their festivities to mark Barbados’ 50th anniversary of Independence, Digicel is showing its national colours in a very significant way.
The telecommunications giant has embraced Barbados’ area code and is now incorporating ‘246’ into its User Menu Manager (UMM) on its mobile handsets.
The change will see customers dialling *246# to access the menu (UMM) where they can fully access and activate data plans, SMS plans, check data and credit balances as well as activate roaming and international voice plans.
Conor Looney, Chief Executive Officer of Digicel Barbados noted, “On October 12 we embarked on 50 days of celebrations starting with the visit of the ceremonial Broken Trident at our office. The penultimate event will be our participation in the Digicel Barbados Is Music (BIM) reunion concert which promises to be a nostalgic musical journey unlike any other.”
Featuring KrosFyah, Coalishun and Square One together for one epic night of first-class Barbadian entertainment, B.I.M is slated for November 29 at Kensington Oval.
Looney continued, “As we all know, the area code 246 spells BIM on our keypads and we thought it only fitting to make this change as a tribute to Barbados and to mark the staging of this event. With only one number to remember, it makes navigating on the user menu on the fastest 4G network easier than ever."
Customers can still access the menu by dialling *153# or by using the My Digicel App which, in addition to balance checks and data plans, also allows customers to top up, transfer credit and get the latest offers and more.
