Driver charged in death of two motorcyclists
Eight months ago two men lost their lives in a collision, and on Thursday, December 28, 2018, a 49-year-old appeared in court charged with causing their deaths by dangerous driving.
Wayne Ivan Cummins of Packers Valley, St Patrick’s, Christ Church appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick charged with causing the deaths of Omar Chase and Kevin Small on May 25; while driving his vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public.
Cummins was not required to plead the charges which were read in the District 'A' Magistrates' Court.
Prosecutor Station Sergeant Carrison Henry did not object to bail but asked that conditions be imposed.
The court then granted bail at the sum of $20 000 and ordered Cummins to surrender his passport and report to the Boarded Hall Police Station every Wednesday by 10 a.m.
Cummins, who was represented by Kevin Miller, will appear in District 'C' Magistrates' Court on January 3, 2019.
Chase and Small were travelling on a motorcycle when it was involved in a collision with Cummins’ van. The accident occurred along Foursquare Road, St Philip.
