Expect water outages during two-day shutdown

The Barbados Water Authority wishes to remind residents and businesses in parts of St. Thomas, St. Michael and St. James that the Ionics Desalination Plant at Spring Garden, St. Michael will be offline from 8:00 am tomorrow Tuesday, May 9th until midnight on Wednesday, May 10th.  

This two-day shutdown is to facilitate the annual maintenance of the plant as well as to upgrade the SCADA system.

As a result, low water pressure and outages may affect residents and commercial customers in and around the following areas: Bagatelle, Redmans, Kew Land, Reid Hill and Welches Terrace in St. Thomas; Grazettes, Long Gap, Spooners Hill and Waterford in St. Michael; Bagatelle, Prior Park, Clermont, Mount Standfast and South Road Sandy Lane in St. James.

Customers are asked to store an adequate supply of water for the duration of the shutdown. Water tankers will also be attached to assist.
