The police are reporting that Alicia England, the woman who is accused of posing as a medical doctor and fleecing persons of hundreds of thousands of dollars, is in custody.

She has been charged by Area One Fraud Squad detectives, as well as by investigators in the Corporate Area, with several offences, including forgery, uttering forged documents, obtaining money by false pretence, and breaches of the Medical Act, a release from the Corporate Communication Unit, the police’s information arm, stated.

England reportedly operated as ‘Dr England McCrane’, treating patients and even writing prescriptions for medication.

The police did not disclose when and where the suspect was taken into custody.

The police, however, said she is scheduled to appear in the St James Parish Court on Friday, March 22.

A date is being finalised for her to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

Investigators are now making a public appeal for other persons who may have been a victim of the alleged scam to contact the police. Persons in western Jamaica may contact the Area One Fraud Squad at 876-952-0552, while other persons may contact the Kingston office at 876-922-2374 or 876-948-5953.
