Fire service responds as smoke seen at City building

Members of the Barbados Fire Service are currently on the scene in a busy area of The City.

Fire officers responded this afternoon after reports of smoke coming from a building near the top of High Street, St Michael, where it connects with the bustling Swan Street area.

Two fire tenders responded to the scene at the Bridgetown building, after receiving a call around 2:48 pm under the command of Divisional Officer Gaskin.

On New Year's Day, a treasured St John business went up in flames as the Souse Factory in Cliff Land, St John was the first major blaze the Barbados Fire Service had to respond to for 2019.

That same day a car was destroyed by fire while at a workshop.

This is a developing story and more information would be provided as details become available.
