A flood warning is in effect for sections of the Island

A surface to low-level trough along with daytime heating has been producing some moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms over the northern and central half of the island. 

This has prompted the Meteorological office at Charnock in Christ Church to issue a flood warning for northern and central sections of Barbados, until 6 am, Saturday, September 7.

Forecasters said rainfall accumulation of 1-2 inches have already been recorded across some district and further accumulations of 1-2 inches are likely as the afternoon progress.es

Residents in flood-prone areas should remain on the alert and take the necessary precautions.  A flood warning means that flooding is already occurring or is imminent.
