Former GG Sir Clifford Husbands to have a State funeral

Former Governor General Sir Clifford Husbands is to be laid to rest November 3, 2017.

In parliament today, October 17, 2017, Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Freundel Stuart stated:

“The funeral service of Sir Clifford Husbands will be on Friday, the third of November at 10 o’clock in the morning at the St. Lucy Parish Church.”

There was a moment of silence at the start of the sitting in honour of Sir Clifford, whose contribution has been acknolwedged by both the country's leader Prime Minister Stuart and the leader of the Opposition, Mia Mottley, since his paasing.

Seven years ago to the day, November 3, 2010, Barbados held a State funeral for the late Barbados Prime Minister, Mr. David John Howard Thompson, at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.  

The State funeral for Sir Clifford is to be organised by the Minister of Labour, Social Security and Human Resource Development, Senator Dr. the Hon. Esther Byer Suckoo.

Sir Clifford passed away at his St. James home on October 11, 2017.
