WATCH: Four businesses gone from Bridgetown in one blaze

Firefighters battled the blaze at Bolton Lane in Bridgetown but were unable to save the bread and butter of four business owners. The fire struck around 1:30 am at Bolton Lane. This road runs perpendicular to Victoria Street and Swan Street.

Bridgetown Station and Arch Hall Station responded to the call which was received by the Barbados Fire Service at 1:32 am, this morning, Friday, October 19, 2018. Four water tenders and one CLP (combine ladder platform) were dispatched.

Today, more than 10 persons are without a place of employment as these businesses employed various clerks and customer service reps. 

Destroyed completely by the fire were Fergie's, Hide & Chic, Symphony Boutique and Majestic Palace.

According to the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Sargeant Michael Blackman, "The fire tenders responded with 14 fire officers under the command of Deputy Chief Fire Officer Henderson Patrick and brought the fire under control by 3:50 am."

Police investigations into the blaze are ongoing.

Bolton Lane remains closed today.
