Frederick Smith students go a-carolling at nursing home
Created : 22 December 2016
The Girls' Club and Caciques Club of the Frederick Smith Secondary School recently paid a visit to the Gordon Cummins Home, Rock Hall, St. Thomas to bring joy to the residents.
Led by Natalie Boyce, a teacher at the school, the students delighted the seniors with their performance of Christmas carols on December 13. They also donated two gift hampers, which were presented by Ms. Shania Foster and Shaquelle Hippolyte.
The Girls' Club and Caciques Club were created to empower and motivate students and are led by Shannel Forde, Nicole Daniel, Roylyn Taitt and Alicia Seale.
They share core values such as encouraging students to be models of high standards of behaviour, promote positive values, a love for God, country and community; and encourage productive contributions to school and community.
Next year, the clubs are going on an educational overseas tour to Guyana. Fundraising has begun in earnest and will continue throughout 2017. Fundraising activities include fishcake sales, car washes and a fish fry. Any support offered by the public by way of contributions and/or attendance is appreciated.
