Frontier Airlines More Room option allows social distancing for a fee
Denver-based carrier Frontier Airlines is now offering passengers an option that’ll allow them to be socially distant as they take to the skies, but at a cost.
Starting May 8, passengers can reserve a More Room seat assignment with a confirmed empty middle seat for as little as US$39.
Frontier CEO Barry Biffle in a statement said:
“While we believe the best measure to keep everyone healthy is to require face coverings, for those who want an empty seat next to them for extra peace of mind or simply comfort, we are offering ‘More Room.’”
This initiative is scheduled to run until August 31 at which time the Airline will determine whether or not it will be extended.
Effective May 8 passengers will also be required to wear a face-covering over their nose and mouth at the airline’s ticket counters, gate areas and for the duration of the flight.
Frontier also requires passengers to accept a health acknowledgement prior to completing the online check-in process.
Passengers are required to certify that:
- Neither they nor anyone in their household has exhibited Covid-19 related symptoms in the last 14 days
- They will check their temperature before heading to the airport and not travel if they have a fever
- They will wash their hands/sanitize before boarding the flight
- Information on the airline’s face covering policy will be added to the health acknowledgement
Frontier Airlines currently serves more than 100 cities in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
