The Healthy Caribbean Coalition (HCC) has congratulated Grenada for its recent ban on sugar products in educating facilities.

At a Post-Cabinet news conference, Grenada's Health Minister Nickolas Steele said while at an older age some habits are difficult to change, it is easier to get the young ones to adapt to certain tastes and practices that could result in healthier lifestyles.

Minister Steele said:

“We are plagued like other Caribbean countries with non-communicable diseases which stem from the abuse of sugar, obesity as well as heart conditions.”

Grenada’s government will continue to place pressure on its public awareness campaigns to promote healthier lifestyles.

In Barbados, the Minister of Health Lt Col Jeffrey Bostic and his team have named the year 2020 the year to fight against non-communicable diseases.
