Chairman of the Association, Sunil Chatrani, explained that the biennial awards, held at the end of the tenure of each BHTA Chairman, will be held June 22 at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
Chatrani explained that the awards were the Association’s way of celebrating excellence in the industry, from its individuals to its businesses: “Nominations were open to any person, accommodation property, restaurant, activity/attraction, industry supplier, service provider or supporter of the industry.
“The only criterion was that they must be members of the Association and the nominations must be for outstanding performance and contribution to the growth, development and sustainability of the tourism industry.”
This year the awards are split into three segments - Category Awards, Special Awards and Tourism Champion Awards.
“Under the Category Awards are Hotel of the Year – Large Hotel; Hotel of the Year – Small Hotel; Restaurant of the Year; Business Excellence - Tourism Supplier and Business Excellence - Activity and Attraction.
“The Special Awards are split into Strategic Partner, Tourism Stalwart, Lifetime Achievement and Special Commendation Awards;, while the Tourism Champion Awards include Hotel Employee of the Year, Hotel Supervisor of the Year, Direct Tourism Service Employee of the Year, Direct Tourism Service Supervisor of the Year, Supporting Tourism Service Supervisor of the Year, Supporting Tourism Service Supervisor of the Year.”
