Industrial cleaning occurring at closed District 'C' Court
Created : 10 January 2019
District 'C' Court in St. Matthias closed for cleaning.
Persons still turned up at the doors of District 'C' Magistrate's Court today, on day two of the facility's closure.
When Loop visited the St. Matthias location in Christ Church this morning, Thursday, January 10, 2019, some clients came to collect child maintenance and to pay monies, while others had court dates to honour.
The security guard redirected persons to the Oistins Court. One employee stressed to Loop that "no matters are here at District 'C'." in addition, she added "District 'A' domestic matters are on hold."
The Barbados Government Information Service issued a press release stating:
"Members of the public are asked to note that the building housing the St. Matthias (District “C”) Magistrate’s Court is closed until Monday, January 14, as a result of an environmental issue. In the interim, this Court will operate from the Oistins Magistrate’s Court from Wednesday, January 9, until Friday, January 11. Persons who are paying and collecting maintenance money are asked to do so from this location. Any inconvenience this closure may cause is regretted."
Industrial cleaners were on site when Loop visited.
