The Kiwanis Club of Barbados Central in association with the Think.Click.SurfCaribbean, (TCSC),visited four Barbadian schools and conducted their "Be Cool, Bullying Is Against The Rule" Anti-Cyberbullying Campaign from June 26-29.

The purpose of the campaign was to focus on cyberbullying as an aspect of child abuse due to the recent upsurge of videos being shared of children being bullied, assaulted and psychologically threatened by their peers.

With the Kiwanis motto at heart, “Serving the Children of the World” and that of the TCSC, “Keeping Caribbean Citizens Safe Online”, this collaboration targeted the Class 4 students of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic School and St. Luke’s-Brighton Primary, as well as the special needs students of the Erdiston Special School and Ann Hill School.

The campaign created an awareness of cyberbullying through the conduct of interactive educational sessions for the students on what is cyberbullying, how it affects them and how it can be avoided.

For their participation, the children received pledge cards, armbands for being attentive and engaging, and stickers to help share and post the anti-cyberbullying message. In total, 135 students and 13 teachers benefited from this project.

The sessions ended with all the participants pledging to make a difference and be the difference in their classrooms, playgrounds, homes and communities.
