The Walrond family is today mourning the passing of one of Barbados' best and brightest.
Lady Beverley Walrond passed in the early part of this morning after succumbing to injuries sustained in an accident.
On Thursday, Sir Errol Walrond and his wife Lady Walrond were involved in a serious car accident in Miami, Florida. While Sir Errol sustained minor injuries in the crash, Lady Walrond suffered life-threatening injuries.
In a statement issued by the family, they thanked those who lent their support at this time.
"We regret to announce the passing of Lady Beverley Walrond. Lady Walrond died as a result of severe injuries in a motor vehicle accident on Thursday December 5, 2019.The family would like to thank all those who reached out to us at this tragic time. Although we could not respond to everyone your support was much appreciated. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date."
Lady Walrond was called to the Bar in Barbados in April 1974 and thereafter joined the Attorney-General’s Chambers as Crown Counsel, (Ag), rising to Senior Crown Counsel.
In 1978 she entered private practice in Barbados as a partner in the law firm of Smith & Smith. She later established her private practice and in 1995 was appointed one of Her Majesty’s Counsel. Lady Walrond was a qualified Mediator and has held posts outside of legal practice.
She acted as a Judge of the High Court of Barbados on two occasions and continued to carry on a general law practice with specialization in family and child law.
