Lil Rick cherishes two titles the most
The Reid family.
Rickey ‘Lil Rick’ Reid the father and husband, come before titles such as first ever International Bashment Soca Monarch, Sweet Soca Monarch, Stag Jam Tune winner or Road March King.
Chatting with Loop News before he snatched up the Tune of the Crop 2018, commonly known as Road March title, Rick said, “Well, family is always first.”
Asked how it feels to share all his winning moments and the success of Dis is Rick with his family, he said, “It’s beautiful! As long as you’re giving good with the family, you’re good with everybody else.”
Backstage at this year’s staging of Dis is Rick it was a family affair as Rick was surrounded by his wife and three of his four children. It was Rick, Caragh, Rickara, Rene and Rinicko. Missing from the picture was his other daughter Maricka.
Loop talked to the eldest of the lot, the one who could almost pass for Lil Rick’s twin – Rene.
Rene said that his father has taught him a lot over the years, especially about perseverance and determination.
Here are five lessons he learned from his dad, the Chihuahua Businessman, aka Board Face, Hypa Dawg:
1. “Never to give up!
2. “Push forward in everything you want to do. Always push forward.”
3. “Don’t let nobody tell you that you can’t achieve nothing.”
4. “And don’t ever feel that when things going bad that that is the end, better must come always.”
5. “So long as you put your best foot forward, anything is possible.”
Lil Rick has won four of the seven major calypso titles this Crop Over season.
