Big things are expected of Buju Banton now that he is freed from the prison system.
Buju was released from Georgia's McRae Correctional Facility on Friday, December 7th after spending close to eight years for drug trafficking charges.
And weighing in on his release were a select number of entertainers in Barbados including DJ Chilly who said:
“I expect that he’s now going to be the star of reggae music.”
The SLAM 101.1 DJ continued:
“Everyone likes bad news and likes to overlook certain things.
"However, I expect he has a lot of ammunition now that he is out. I expect he will take reggae music, the Caribbean and Jamaica into new places."
DJ Chilly believes Buju Banton will be touring for the next two year.
Calypsonian Chad 'Sir Ruel' Bowen said:
“To be honest I think I’ll be waiting to see what he brings out. I'm sure whatever he puts out would be received well.”
Personality and calypsonian Anderson Blood Armstrong added:
“I’ve always been a Buju fan, I suppose I’m looking for new releases.”
