Magistrate goes out on a short limb for accused
Failure to find a suitable surety could have produced an unwanted outcome for a 26-year-old yesterday but a Bridgetown Magistrate allowed some leniency.
However, that leniency displayed by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant was only extended for some time.
Rasheeda Melissa Pile of Golden Castle Rendevous, Christ Church, has until today to return to the District 'A' Magistrates' Court with a suitable surety. She appeared yesterday charged with assaulting and causing actual bodily harm to Sade Polin on December 24, 2017; a charge she denies.
The Crown had no objections to bail and Pile was offered bail. However, the surety Pile provided the court with was deemed unacceptable. As the day came to an end no suitable was present and the magistrate accepted the initial surety until today.
