Magistrate warns route taxi driver after alleged assault

A man on a wounding charge was warned to stay away from the complainant.

This order came from Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant after 52-year-old Steven Andrew Hamblin denied the charge and was granted bail by a Bridgetown Magistrate.

Hamblin, a route taxi driver, of Golf Club Road, Rendezvous, Christ Church pleaded not guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Kensley Jacobs. The alleged offence occurred on February 23.

He is expected to return to court in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on September 18.

Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant not only warned Hamblin to stay away from Jacobs but told him to also keep away from the area where the alleged attack took place.

Station Sergeant Cameron Gibbons prosecuted in the matter while attorney-at-law Jamar Bourne represented Hamblin.

Hamblin was granted on $4,000 bail with one surety.
