Major to be laid to rest
The late Major Courtenay McConney
Major Courtenay Averill McConney B.S.A OSt.J ED has passed away.
He was 90 years old.
The Major was late of 1st Avenue Dover Gardens, Christ Church.
He was a member of the Barbados Regiment, St. John Ambulance Brigade, Barbados Legion, The Royal Commonwealth Society, MESA, Lodge Unity 1625, Rose Croix No. 1097 and the St. Barnabas Church.
He leaves his wife, children, siblings and grandchildren along with colleagues and friends to mourn his passing.
He was the husband of Dathny McConney née Hunte; father of Averill McConney Lovell, Year Head at the St. Michael School and Dr. Glenda McConney Gay, Lecturer at the University of the West Indies at Cave Hill.
He had four grandkids - Jeffrey Jr., Reyda, Elijah and Nathan. He was one six children. He was the brother of Grace, Mark, Sylvia, the late Irvine II and Trevor McConney, and he was the uncle of Tyrone and Irvine III McConney and many others.
The funeral of the late Major Courtenay Averill McConney leaves Tudor’s Funeral Home, The Ivy, St. Michael on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 8:30 am for St. Matthias Anglican Church, Hastings, Christ Church, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 am for a Service of Thanksgiving.
The cortege will then proceed to the Military Cemetery, Gravesend, Needham's Point, St. Michael for the Interment. No mourning colours by special request.
