Man accused of assaulting ex pleads guilty but defends actions
A salesman accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend two years ago has pleaded guilty to the charge but defended his actions.
Dwayne Ricardo Elliot, 33, of Flag Staff Road, St Michael said Kibibi Greenidge had confronted him about another female but, as he attempted to walk away from her, she grabbed his shirt.
In response, Elliot said he pushed Greenidge and she fell.
But the prosecution gave a different account of what occurred on December 8, 2017.
They said the relationship between Elliot and Greenidge had ended because of Elliot's abusive behaviour - verbal, physical and psychological).
On the date of the offence, Greenidge was said to be walking along River Road when she realised Elliot was following her. Elliot expressed his dissatisfaction about their break-up but Greenidge said she didn't like his aggressive behaviour.
It was then that Elliot cuffed her in the chest.
The District "A" matter was adjourned until September 6 when the complainant will make an appearance.
Elliot was granted $2,500 bail by Magistrate Douglas Frederick and warned to stay away from Greenidge.
