Man on assault with intent to rape charge, remanded for drugs
Created : 15 April 2018
A 40-year-old man appeared in a Bridgetown court this week on charges of assault and drug possession and had to make his way to prison.
He is Troy Ricardo Waithe of Factory Avenue, Wildey, St Michael.
Waithe is accused of assaulting Shanika Leacock with intent to rape her on April 9. He was not required to plead to this charge.
In addition, he denied that he assaulted Katrina Waithe causing her actual bodily harm on January 14. He returns to court on May 9 in relation to these charges.
However, Waithe admitted to three drug-related cannabis charges: possession, trafficking, and possession with the intent to supply.
Sargeant Edwin Pinder said police went to the Waithe's residence on April 9 to carry out investigations and he ran from the house. He was eventually held and had in his possession a bag with the vegetable matter. The drugs weighed 51 grams and are estimated to be valued at $110.
Waithe was sentenced to a month in prison on the simple possession charge and convicted, reprimanded and discharged on the other offences.
