After the shocking Valentine's Day, Ash Wednesday murder of an elderly homeless woman, a 43-year-old male appeared in court today charged in connection with her death.

Sean Christopher Inniss, of Prescod Bottom, Bank Hall, St Michael appeared unkempt as he stood in the dock to hear the charge.

The charge stated that between the 13th and 14th days of February he murdered Shirley Rogers.

He was remanded until March 22.

Rogers was found stabbed to death at a bus stop along Princess Alice Highway in Bridgetown.

The bus stop is in the vicinity of the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex and the supermarket Savings Plus.

The elderly woman frequented the Fish Market and those familiar with her expressed both sadness and anger at the news of her death.

The matter was heard in the District A Magistrate's court before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant.
