Trini charged for sexual abuse of daughter
A 49-year-old man in Trinidad and Tobago will appear virtually before a Point Fortin Magistrate today (October 27) to answer five counts of sexual penetration of a minor.
The suspect was arrested on Saturday, following a report made by a 16-year-old girl that she was allegedly subjected to sexual abuse by her father from the age of 11.
The girl told police the last assault occurred at their home on October 19.
The suspect reportedly attempted to take his own life on learning a report was made to the police. He was taken to the Point Fortin Area Hospital and later transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital.
He was taken into police custody after being discharged from hospital on Sunday.
WPC Myers of the South-Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU) arrested the accused on Monday.
