Man hearing voices, remanded to Psychiatric Hospital

A homeless man, who said he was hearing voices in his head, was remanded to the Psychiatric Hospital yesterday.

Galveston Athelson Burke, 39, made the admission yesterday, Monday, February 18, 2019, as he stood before a Bridgetown Magistrate to answer two charges.

Burke is accused of stealing a cellphone, Barbados Driver's Licence and a cologne; total value $750, belonging to Tyrone Jones. The offence allegedly occurred on February 15.

He is also accused of robbing Andrew Jones of $210 on Valentine's Day.

When the magistrate inside the District 'A' Magistrates' Court asked the accused to enter a plea, he questioned whether reporters were present and then proceeded to speak about voices in his head.
