Man with over 80 convictions sentenced to prison

A 50-year-old man with 81 convictions blamed his criminal actions on alcohol, cocaine and bad choices in his younger days.

Despite these justifications, Alvin Anthony Harris was sentenced to six months in prison yesterday- adding another conviction to his already lengthy list.

On this occasion, Harris, a handyman of Clevedale Road, Black Rock, St Michael pleaded guilty to loitering in a man's yard with the intentions of committing an arrestable offence: burglary.

He told the court that he was under the influence of alcohol when he committed the offence on December 3, 2018 .

"I does drink really hard and I am asking you to be lenient."

He also said his past wrongdoings were as a result of cocaine use and being "young and stupid".

His excuses did not move the court and he was sentenced by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy- Sargeant.
